AMORGOS, the easternmost island of the Greek Cyclades is a stunner,
with whitewashed houses, trestled alleyways and fiery rust sunsets ...

New Geocaches on Amorgos

Two Austrian geocaching experts Rene Voglmayr and Norbert Prügl (they logged already more than 2000 caches worldwide and created a number of caches) have been on Amorgos last week to stash some more geocaches on the island and to present the concept of geocaching on Yperia 2011. They enjoyed their stay on Amorgos and were fascinated from the Island.

“It was a great pleasure for us to be invited to come to Amorgos. Our hobby Geocaching is most fun when we can discover beautiful places – and there are a lot of on Amorgos! We will definitely recommend this unique spot on the planet to all interested geocachers, hikers etc. Besides placing geocaches and visiting nice places we also enjoyed the great food on Amorgos most times prepared with fresh herbs directly from the island. During the international YPERIA conference we had the opportunity to introduce our project as well as get to know interesting people and spread the idea discovering and respecting the environment by means of geocaching. Thanks to all who supported our trip and special thanks to our new friends – it really felt like coming home 🙂 We will be back as soon as possible. For now there are some newly placed geocaches on the island, still to be found by fellow geocachers. So go there and be the first to find them!”

Geocaches are now spread over the whole island and you will get an perfect overview if you will find most of them.

Well hidden Geocaches on Amorgos Island

Well stashed, creative caches

For some Amorgos geocaches you have to hike on mountains, some you will find close to the sea on beaches or in villages or visit another island and even have to go into the water and solve riddles to find the treasures. Some you will find on places that offer an perfect view, some you will find close to cultural places of interest, energy places, some are multi caches – all of them are hidden well!!
